About Us

We create it. We restore it. We protect it. We cherish it.

Our promise

Our promise is simple. To deliver the highest quality habitat possible. Because the higher the quality, the better the outcomes, right?

What we do

We buy land in key habitat corridors in need of a little TLC and we give it a makeover. Habitat that is home to the six species of endangered flora and fauna we have committed to protecting – blue gum, melaleuca irbyana, koalas, grey-headed flying fox, swift parrots, and greater gliders.

The healthier the habitat, the greater the chance of survival for these species.

The value

As they say, the proof is in the pudding.

We consistently achieve a 90 per cent plus tree survival rate, with above industry standard growth rates, because of this commitment to quality.

How do we achieve this industry-leading survival rate?

Solid grounding

We have created a process that best prepares the soil for the planting of flora, so each plant has a much higher chance of survival.

Quality over quantity

When it comes to planting, our focus is quality over quantity. We would rather focus on planting 500 seedlings a day properly, than 2000 that won’t survive because of the low cost approach. The specialised equipment we use, which doesn’t come cheap, helps us to achieve our big goals.

Genuine impact

Overall, we plant more than we need to over a greater area of land. The bare minimum simply isn’t an option for us. We want to create genuine impact and deliver to the highest quality.

Working with us

Don’t believe us? Ask our partners. They choose to work with Cherish the Environment because of the quality habitat we consistently deliver.

We have a long-term plan because we know we can’t effect real environmental change overnight. And that’s okay because we’re a patient lot, which is lucky, because some of our projects might take up to 20 years to meet our lofty goals.

We don’t apologise for aiming high when it comes to our endangered flora and fauna.

When a project has been completed, we used the funds raised to fund the next project. And the next. This is where the biodiversity magic happens.

As a not-for-profit, every cent we make is reinvested back into the environment so that generations to come have something beautiful to cherish.

Our Mission

To create, restore and protect places for threatened ecological communities and to support the repopulation of these places by endangered species.

Our Vision

An Australia where there are high quality protected places for endangered species and ecological communities.
